Salon V Owners to Open 4,000-Square-Foot Kids’ Salon in Flatiron District

June 10, 2025

Spa Lala, a kids’ hair salon, will make its debut within the next three months in Manhattan’s Flatiron District.

The business will occupy an approximately 4,100-square-foot space, located on the second floor of 30 W. 22nd St.

“It’s on a charming block and somewhere where you feel safe bringing your kids,” said ARA’s Benjamin Namdar, who represented Spa Lala on the deal.

The lease is for 10 years, and asking rent was $65 per square foot.

Husband-and-wife duo Alan and Vernelle Murphy are behind Spa Lala. They also own 1,800-square-foot salon Salon V, which is located at 10 E. Eighth St.

“They wanted to stay near Union Square where their current location is so they could keep the same clientele,” Namdar said. “Commuters can make it from one location to the other very easily.”

The 22nd Street location also appealed to the Murphys because of its opportunity for signage.

“There is a huge flagpole outside of the space that will be used for advertising,” Namdar said.

“They think that this location will be more profitable than Salon V,” he added. “Salon V is doing very well, but Vernelle believes there is such a need for a nice, high-end kids’ salon. A lot of their Salon V clients have kids that need somewhere to go.”

The landlord, Akelius Real Estate Management, was represented by Meridian Capital Group’s Ben Biberaj and Desi Avidane on the deal.
